We are so thrilled that you are purchasing tickets to a Marvell Rep production. Last year, in just our second season, we were honored with a Drama Desk Award nomination for Best Revival for our production of THE THREEPENNY OPERA. Barbara Siegel, chair of the Drama Desk nominating committee, pulled us aside to say to us that our nomination meant more than many wins, because we are such a young company.
But in just a few years' time, we envision Marvell Rep taking its place alongside some of the greatest companies in New York - Classic Stage, Theatre for A New Audience, Signature, and others whose work and success we admire so much. Under our current contract with Actors' Equity Association, we are not permitted to charge more than $25 per ticket. We think you will agree -- for the opportunity to see actors of this caliber on a New York stage -- that's a steal. Ticket sales only account for 30% of our total budget, and for such a young company, raising the rest is no easy feat.
Please, if you'd like to see us grow so we can offer more great performances and pay the artists whose talents we depend on fairly, consider adding a tax-deductible contribution of $25, $50, $100, or more to your ticket purchase. The money you give goes to work immediately helping to pay artist fees, construct scenery, rent props, purchase paint and fabric and gel - all things that directly impact your experience in the theatre.
